Inspired as much by the three-part harmonies of The Hollies as the ringing guitars of Big Star, the band is also influenced by the ‘magic hour’ photography of Gregory Crewdson and the faded blues and greys of the Pennsylvanian industrial town depicted in The Deer Hunter.

Pinetop Sauna has recorded a collection of songs accompanied by three short films which evoke childhood memories, people and places.
Beginning life as an opportunity for old friends to gather back in their hometown and record music in a basement, the project developed into an examination of how a failing industry in a small town was changing the urban and rural landscape of their youth.

Overgrown train-lines, abandoned dock yards and dilapidated bridges under which they convened as teenagers have all fed into an album that considers the blurred lines between reality and fiction, of beauty and decay. While nature reclaims some sites, others spawn new estates to house the ever-expanding Liverpool and Manchester commuter-belt. Nothing is frozen in time.
